Gracias Lempira

One of the undiscovered treasures of Honduras,the mountain country between Gracias, La Esperanza, and the Salvadoran border is a beautiful region comprising pine forest and infrequently visited colonial villages. However the area offers much more; the dirt roads and trails connecting the highlands villages of La Campa, San Manuel colohete and beyond are adventures waiting to happen.

Castle of San Cristobal (Gracias Lempira)
Was built in the mid 19th century to help defend Honduras against the turbulence raging across Central America a good reason to visit the fort is to check out the views across Gracias, the surrounding countryside and montaña de Celaque looming up to the west.

National Park Celaque/Gracias Lempira
One of the premier parks in Honduras,celaque boasts the country´s highest mountain at 2,849 meters as well as a truly magnificent cloud forest on the high plateau, more impressive than anything this is the real forest primeval-towering trees covered with vines, ferns, and moss forming a dense canopy completely blocking out the sun.-Celaque means “box of water” in lenca.

La Campa (Gracias Lempira)
Located 16 km. Is this beautiful community famous for its production of pottery typical. Most of the ceramics produced in La Campa is simple and everyday use in the house of the same Lencas you can observe the process of manufacturing the final product and the people is located in the foothills of highly rugged mountains and has a beautiful colonial church
